This instrument is going to be personalised more than most that I build, with family names being inlaid in the rosette. The back and sides will be in Tiger Myrtle, and top in Western Red Cedar. It's a great combination and the color pallet features lots of reds and blacks making for a striking package in a high gloss finish.]]>

It will get some Peg Head 4:1 geared tuners as they are just so nice and light for a small bodied instrument like this.]]>Ancient Sitka and Babinga Tenorallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2013-01-20T15:40:38+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/babinga_and_ancient_spruce_tenor.php#unique-entry-id-15http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/babinga_and_ancient_spruce_tenor.php#unique-entry-id-15soprano, I was more than pleased with his confidence in my building skills.

In this post I will document the tenor's construction, with backs and sides in Babinga in what is called a water fall grain pattern. Sap wood down the centre for some visual contrast, and the really striking Ancient Sitka Spruce that is naturally blue / black with some flashes of light grey. It will get a set of chrome Hipshot 18:1 geared tuners in the art deco style.]]>
Ancient Sitka and Honduran Rosewood Baritoneallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2012-11-04T16:56:11+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Ancient_Sitka_Baritone_Ukulele.php#unique-entry-id-14http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Ancient_Sitka_Baritone_Ukulele.php#unique-entry-id-14
The top is Ancient Sitka Spruce that one of my tone wood suppliers in Alaska flound when he was excavating a site for his new factory. The logs that were buried under tonnes of mud and rock for a very long time. It's been carbon dated, but I'm still waiting on it's age. The body will be in Honduran Rosewood that was felled sometime in the early 1970's and again this is some rather rare tonewood. It has a bright brass bell ring to it when tapped, and is the most lovely burgundy color. It will come up a treat with the blue / black of the Ancient Sitka.]]>

As I had two almost identical sets of Tiger Myrtle suitable for a Baritone size body, this was a great opportunity to make the best of this very attractive and now difficult to source wood.]]>

This instrument is to follow along with the previous Baritones that I've built. Going with the Art Deco theme and using Tasmanian Blackwood for back and sides with Adirondack Red Spruce for the top.]]>

Blackheart Sassafras Tenor for Robynallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2012-02-25T17:44:35+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Blackheart%20Tenor%20for%20Robyn.php#unique-entry-id-9http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Blackheart%20Tenor%20for%20Robyn.php#unique-entry-id-9I did for Paul. It just turns out that I have the next sequential set of the very same wood so it would be easy. I don't like to do identical builds when it comes to a custom, as I feel a customer who asks for a custom should be entitled to a one of a kind, so Robyn's will get a Bear Claw Sitka Spruce top. I quite like the Art Deco period of design and will be giving this uke some of that styling.]]>A Baritone Uke for Renee Searlesallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2012-01-28T17:14:00+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/A%20Baritone%20for%20Renee%20Searles.php#unique-entry-id-8http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/A%20Baritone%20for%20Renee%20Searles.php#unique-entry-id-8Fae's Tenorallen@brguitars.comClasses2011-08-27T17:34:56+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/4b369242e1e18ed00d77d263578a6248-7.php#unique-entry-id-7http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/4b369242e1e18ed00d77d263578a6248-7.php#unique-entry-id-7Guitalele for Xaioallen@brguitars.comUkulelesGuitars2011-08-07T05:40:34+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Guitalele%20for%20Xaio.php#unique-entry-id-6http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Guitalele%20for%20Xaio.php#unique-entry-id-6Pineapple Ukulele for Billallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2011-08-06T16:04:25+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Pineapple%20for%20Bill.php#unique-entry-id-5http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Pineapple%20for%20Bill.php#unique-entry-id-5Cairns Ukulele Festival 2011allen@brguitars.comClasses2011-05-15T20:15:01+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Cairns%20Uke%20Festival%202011.php#unique-entry-id-4http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/Cairns%20Uke%20Festival%202011.php#unique-entry-id-4A Tenor for Paulallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2011-01-29T16:13:50+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/a_tenor_for_paul.php#unique-entry-id-3http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/a_tenor_for_paul.php#unique-entry-id-3]]>Arch Top Ukuleleallen@brguitars.comUkuleles2011-01-02T17:22:43+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/0071cf6ffb9030cd8cbd4f3208e080bb-2.php#unique-entry-id-2http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/0071cf6ffb9030cd8cbd4f3208e080bb-2.php#unique-entry-id-2Size 5 Parlour Guitarallen@brguitars.comGuitars2010-12-15T06:08:21+10:00http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/27f190a08766e0ae7acf13ced527b45e-0.php#unique-entry-id-0http://www.brguitars.com/blog/files/27f190a08766e0ae7acf13ced527b45e-0.php#unique-entry-id-0
